Week-long birthday

 

We started celebrating Wynne's birthday about a week early since we had Granmda Audrey around. Later with Elizabeth's family we celebrated Wynne and cousin Lydia's birthday together, and then finally yesterday. on Wynne's birthday we had a party. One of the best things Wynne had for her birthday was a lifesize mermaid pinata that Grandma Audrey bought for Wynne at a roadside stand. It was so big in fact that I had to recline seats to get it in the van. When we tried to explain to Wynne what we were going to do the mermaid she got rather upset telling us that "you can't hit her, she is a girl mermaid." Later filling her with candy helped convince her that it was ok to break her, but she said not to hit the tail, just the butt. Strangely enough, we found the most fitting place for a final resting place for the mermaid. We rented a house for the last part of our trip with Elizabeth's parents, the woman owner of the house was an artist and loved the mermaid and intends on fixing her up and gave her a spot in her studio.
